Ladies and gentlemen, the party has begun - Fantasporto 2006

26 years after, the biggest Portuguese film festival will open with a home made film.

Fantasporto will open this year with “Coisa Ruim”, by Tiago Guedes and Frederico Serra, with the script from Rodrigo Guedes de Carvalho. Those who have seen it, did not regret it at all.

On the 26th edition, you might get scared in the following 4 cinemas: Rivoli Teatro Municipal, which will host the main competition, the Library Almeida Garret, with the Bollywood retrospective, Passos Manuel, with the Love Connection, and the cinemas AMC, where one can see some of the best films for this edition.

This Festival is known as being a Fantastic and Horrour Film Festival. With time, some new sections appeared, completing the festival a bit more and giving it a more enlarged version and character.
For those eager to see more Portuguese films, this year there will be plenty of chance to do it. Several films will be competing on the Cinema Fantastico, Melies D'Argent or on the Short Film competition.

There will be as well a chance to see some of the latest films from Kim Ki Duk (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and ... Spring, Iron 3,.....) and some his latest The Bow and Samaritan Girl, on the Orient Express section, or some new films such as “Hostel”, by Eli Roth and produced by Quentin Tarantino, “Domino”, by Tony Scott, with Keira Knightley, Mickey Rourke, Lucy Liu, Christopher Walken, Macy Gray and Jacqueline Bisset or “Edison”, with Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey and Justin Timberlake, giving his first steps on the cinema word.

In order to know more on the program check the Fantasporto official webpage here.

So what are you waiting for? Get yourself to Oporto as soon as possible. And beware, the night lives.......
